How would you describe the ECW style?

Polished, clean, and streamlined. We’re a good fit for you if you like classic elegance but with your own spin on things.

Some of our previous couples had very distinct personal style. From animals to paper planes, we excel at adding finesse to whimsical ideas!

What kind of couples do you work with?

We work with couples from all over the world who want an elevated wedding celebration with distinct details and style in Calgary and the surrounding Rocky Mountains.

The common theme in our clients is that they appreciate quality, are detail-oriented but trust our team with to run with creative direction and logistics.

Our couples focus on guest experience and rely on our expertise to deliver on this. At the same time, they know we value collaboration and respect their input when putting it all together. This is invaluable in creating the weddings ECW is known to deliver!

*We welcome all love here*

Who is not a great fit for ECW?

We’re not for everyone, and not everyone is for us! Life is too short to try and force a relationship that isn’t working. We would rather you go with planners who meet your expectations, even if it isn’t us.

Couples who would not be a good fit for Evelyn Clark Weddings are:

  • Couples looking for “month-of coordination”: While we believe in the importance of hiring a professional to help relieve the pressure the month or so leading up to your wedding day, you’ll get the best of us when we can guide you from the beginning of the wedding process.
  • Those who are distracted or disinterested in wedding planning: We don’t need to tell you that there are a lot of details involved in wedding planning! Even with ECW by your side, you still need to provide input so that we can make the best decisions for your wedding. We value collaboration in order to produce a wedding that feels personal to you!
  • The “entourage” couple: ECW often works with Moms or a close friend of our clients because we understand that you might need a little extra support when making big decisions. But, we have to draw the line when it comes to bringing the whole entourage to every meeting, or taking direction from people other than you. When there are too many opinions involved, things can get messy and distracting. We work best with clients who like the one-on-one approach.

How do you handle hiring and paying vendors?

When you hire ECW, our fee covers our services, specifically. What’s not included in that fee are the hard costs of things like flowers, decor, and etc.

We make sure we understand your budget, style and personality when helping you build your wedding dream team. Because we don’t add mark-ups to vendor pricing, you get professionals who are the best fit for you, not for our wallets.

You are expected to review and sign contracts directly with your wedding professionals (we help flag any issues, of course) and pay them directly. There are occasions where this doesn’t always work or apply, but generally speaking, this is how we operate.

Beyond dollars and hard costs though, remember that you always get better value because of our established relationships with other wedding professionals.

What is your pricing?

We customize quotes specifically to your details and scope of work. We consider the location(s) of your wedding, the logistics, timing, level of decor and details. The more complex your wedding, the more time and/or staff is required, which translates to a higher price.

On average, clients invest $9000 before tax (CAD) and before travel & accommodation for weddings outside of Calgary. For the most precise pricing, we’re happy to do a complimentary virtual meeting with you to review your venue(s), guest count, and what you envision for the flow of your wedding day and its aesthetics. Get in touch here to start that process!

Is Evelyn Clark Weddings available outside of Alberta?

Yes! We typically work with clients to plan weddings in the surrounding Calgary area that includes Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise. We occasionally travel to B.C. for weddings in places like Invermere or the Okanagan too. While we have planned weddings outside of Canada before, we are most comfortable working in Western Canada.

Travel to areas outside of Calgary require a travel and hotel accommodation fee. Just like you get a hotel and per diem for your work travels, our team does too. Give us a shout and we would be happy to walk through how we can work with you!

How many weddings do you do in a year?

We’re boutique! That means we only take on about 10-15 weddings a year due to the complex and logistically challenging nature of our clients’ weddings. Working with a small group of couples at a time gives our clients a more personal experience. Plus, taking on less clients keeps us fresh to help us dream and create with you.

We want our meetings and communication to feel comfortable. Wedding planning shouldn’t be intimidating. You should also feel important, and not like just another wedding client.

Although we are boutique-sized, we have produced luxury multi-day weddings with hundreds of people just as lovingly and effectively as intimate weddings.

Do we meet with you before we pick a date and book a venue, or the other way around?

We find that most couples meet with us after they have tentatively decided on a date and venue. Since we take on fewer clients than most planners, there’s only so many dates we are available for. This way, we can be sure we’re available and can quote most accurately. Of course, some couples need help finding the best venue for their parameters and are more flexible with dates, so we’re happy to help in these cases too!
