The Lake House wedding with dusty blue details

Since blue is 2020 Pantone’s Colour of the Year, we’re hoping to inspire you with this Lake House wedding incorporating dusty blue details.

We helped Ghodlene and Adrian design and coordinate their wedding at St. Mary’s Cathedral and The Lake House in Calgary. The overall feeling for this wedding was understated simplicity and an emphasis on quality.

Our clients are never ones who shy away from investing in areas they value and that will create a better experience for their guests. So, we focused on a few details to highlight and left the rest simple.

Lanterns, flowers, greenery and dusty blue and silver accents at this Lake House wedding

We love the contrast of using neutral tones, dusty blue and silver to pop against the dark wood in The Lake House. And as much as we love gold, it was nice to focus on a different metallic for once!

Ghodlene and Adrian wanted flowers but didn’t want to go overboard. The tables at The Lake House are small, so stuffing lots of decor and blooms in such a small space would impact guest comfort while eating. Having the blooms fill and spill out of the lanterns instead of just filling them with candles gave us thatmuch more room for flowers.

As compromise is key to any relationship and marriage, Ghodlene and Adrian had to compromise on decor selection. Although there were debates about which style of lanterns to whether we should go with the blue water goblets, I think the pieces we ended up choosing were perfect for the space. Plus, I just can’t imagine not having those goblets!

Acrylic and calligraphy wedding details

A key piece we had to have in the wedding was the hand-lettered clear seating chart. Instead of using a piece of acrylic, which look scuffed after being rented out so many times, Ghodlene and Adrian ordered a full tempered glass piece for hand-lettering. Ghodlene’s grandpa and Adrian made the wood base to hold up the heavy glass, creating a statement piece. Adding loose blooms and greenery to the base of the seating chart softened the whole look.

We loved working with these two to create a wedding with small, but impactful details!
