Letterpress love

*DISCLAIMER: Please note that I do not create or produce letterpress materials. This post features a non-affiliated, independent letterpress company whose work I like. Thanks!*

As a gal who is inspired by Classic style, I love me some letterpress. For me, letterpress stationery represents beautiful simplicity with more polish than pizazz. The thick, cotton paper with the grooves and indent of the printing process lends much interest to the hand, creating wonderful texture and pure understated elegance.

And because I like having modern influences in elegant design style too, I was very drawn to Lucky Bee Press‘ paper goods. Their work takes classic letterpress and blends it with whimsical elements to create a very “right-now” feeling. Take a look at some of their cute work:

These wedding invitations are so sweet — I love the pretty flourishes.

And please tell me you also think these hedgehog thank you cards are too stinkin’ cute! I guess I am just a sucker for anything with cartoon animals though…

I also really love their coaster sets: these are a great addition to add some personalization to your wedding or to use as an alternative to a guestbook. Just provide some non-smudgey, scrapbook-safe pens for your guests, and then you have a practical keepsake from your wedding instead of that book that nobody ever looks at again…

Letterpress brings back those days when people used to hand write letters and send thank you notes; a time and practice forgotten with the age of technology which, unfortunately, I am guilty of sometimes (and I’m sure there are others out there too!). There is something special about sitting down and taking the time to write a few words on pretty stationery instead of firing off a quick text or email, isn’t there? And although I love digital design for its ease and speed, letterpress invitations evoke that feeling of being invited to something special for which we can get excited to dress up and celebrate…isn’t that especially true for a wedding?

For many more samples, please check out Lucky Bee Pressetsy shop. Thank you to Amy and Laurie for permission to show your work!
